Find Your People

I have been asked countless times, “What is this?!  I have been to physical therapy so many times.  This is not physical therapy!  What is this?!

My response:  “This is the way I feel physical therapy should be

My response is oftentimes followed up by my client with a satisfied smile which I interpret as… “Ahh yes, I have found my people!

As a result, this month we will be focusing on the various ways our people have come to know that they are our people or, conversely, how we know we have found our people

 1) The physical therapist who is looking for a job with us

Find an employer who aligns with your values. Here at Congruency, we deliver a product that is truly patient-centered and not beholden to insurance policies or dictated by reimbursement rates. Therapists have the freedom to provide the care that they think is truly in the patient's best interest, in partnership with the patient's goals. We believe this provides the best results and provides the greatest satisfaction for both patient and therapist.

2) The client who becomes a brand ambassador

It warms our hearts when we have clients who feel so much improvement from the care they receive, that they want to tell everyone they know.  Referrals from immediate family members and friends of our clients are the highest compliment.  While everyone’s process may look very differently, we strive to provide the most compassionate yet skilled physical therapy in the greater Charlotte area.

3) The client who appreciates comprehensive education

Providing comprehensive education to our patients is a huge part of what we do as physical therapists. It is important that the patient understands what is causing their pain, how their body moves and functions, and how a certain area of the body can impact another. If you can better understand your medical condition or where your symptoms are coming from, it is easier to understand your treatment plan and address the main driver of your pain or dysfunction.

4) The client who wants to know the driver of their experience, not just the symptoms

Don't chase the pain, chase the problem! It's easy to treat the symptoms, but it's much more important to treat the cause. Identifying the cause of pain starts with having the time to ask questions- A LOT of questions. We call it "peeling back the layers of the onion" to help us unravel dysfunctional movement patterns or past injuries that might have led to the current one.

At Congruency, we are always focused on the whole person, not the part. We will deep dive with you as part of our promise to become a partner in your journey towards pain-free, efficient movement.

5) The client who is more focused on their long term goals, not just the short term pain

Typically, our clients come to us due to an injury that is keeping them from doing the things they love.  That may be walking down the street, play sports with their kids, running a half marathon, or playing golf to name a few.  With these clients, our people, it doesn’t take long to realize their real goals are to do these things as late into life as possible.  Once the initial pain or limiting problem has mostly resolved, we want to help our clients move in the direction of their goals long-term.

6) The therapist who is willing to treat throughout the body even when there are multiple painful areas

It is very common for our people to come in with pain in multiple areas of their body.  They tend to be surprised that we are willing to work on.. Well.. all of them!  We work together to determine if their symptoms are related in any way and then make a plan to work on the most important areas first.  We create a process that makes sense, and then go to work!

7) The client who needs more than manual therapy and exercise

"We don't heal in isolation, but in community." - S. Kelley Harrell

"Pain and suffering don't become trauma unless a person truly feels alone and isolated in their pain." - Unknown

We are here to provide a safe space for our people to feel heard and to truly allow them to heal.

8) The client who appreciates a high level of detailed cueing when performing corrective exercises

We are picky! We are picky with the exercises we choose, but we are even more picky about the way the exercises are being performed. Cueing for proper form, muscle activation and sequencing are crucial to getting the most benefit from the corrective exercises that are prescribed.

There are many options in Charlotte, NC of where you could choose to receive physical therapy.  We hope this post, both comedically and informatively will help you understand why Congruency Therapy and Wellness might be a good fit for you.  If you have pain or would like to move more comfortably, we would love to partner with you on your health and wellness journey!
